When a long-standing client needed to urgently hire a QA Manager during the height of the pandemic, internal bandwidth was stretched thin. With project milestones looming and a team already under pressure, they turned to us for a solution that would save time without compromising on quality.

The situation 

Our client, a senior leader in a global organisation, was juggling the demands of remote team setup, project delivery, and a critical vacancy. The need for a QA Manager was urgent, but time to review CVs or conduct interviews was non-existent. Meanwhile, the team was feeling the strain, with responsibilities being redistributed and productivity at risk. 

The solution 

We proposed a tailored recruitment process using our on-demand video interview platform, designed to reduce time spent hiring while maintaining a high-quality candidate experience. 

After aligning on the job requirements and interview questions, we asked the hiring manager to record a short video introducing the company culture. This clip was shared with candidates to give them a real sense of the team and environment. 

Three of our QA specialists worked in parallel: two tapped into our existing network, while one focused on headhunting new talent. Within three days, we had shortlisted ten candidates. After a collaborative review, six were selected for interview. 

To ensure consistency, one consultant conducted all six video interviews in a single day. We then shared the top three candidates via our platform, allowing the client to review them at their convenience. 

The result 

The client conducted two final interviews over the weekend and extended an offer shortly after. Within ten business days of the initial briefing, the role was filled, and the new hire started just one week after contract acceptance. 

Since then, R&D Partners has become the client’s go-to partner for QA recruitment and are now exploring how our video interview solution can support other departments.
