Need a new challenge where you can engineer precision in the world of medical devices? Join our client’s cutting-edge team and jump into this Test Engineer position.

R&D Partners is seeking a Test Engineer to support software testing activities within a Class I medical device environment. The successful contractor will work closely with the development and quality teams to execute testing activities, document results, and support verification of software functionality. This is a hands-on role requiring candidates who are comfortable operating both physical systems and simulators as part of the testing process.

The company serves healthcare providers, pharmaceutical manufacturers, medical device companies, and life sciences organisations worldwide. Their portfolio includes sterilisation systems, surgical equipment, laboratory testing services, infection prevention products, and software solutions designed to improve patient outcomes and regulatory compliance.

Responsibilities:

  • Execute software testing activities on machines and simulation environments.
  • Perform functional and system-level testing.
  • Document test execution and outcomes.
  • Record defects and issues within the agreed quality systems.
  • Work with development and quality teams to investigate and resolve defects.
  • Maintain traceability and test documentation in line with medical device quality standards.
  • Support verification activities throughout the software development lifecycle.

Key Skills and Requirements:

  • Specific medical device experience is not essential.
  • The product falls within a Class I software testing environment.
  • Candidates with software testing experience from regulated industries will be considered.
  • Strong software testing or verification experience.
  • Experience executing structured test cases and documenting results.
  • Familiarity with JIRA and/or similar defect management tools.
  • Experience working within regulated environments (medical devices, pharmaceuticals, aerospace, automotive, defence or similar).
  • Ability to work onsite in Bishop’s Stortford.
  • Strong attention to detail and documentation standards.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
