Ready for a new challenge where engineering meets impact? Our client is looking for their next best mechanical engineer!

R&D Partners is seeking a highly skilled and creative Mechanical Engineer to join their team. You’ll play a pivotal role in designing, prototyping, and refining robotic components for next-generation laparoscopic surgical platforms. Your expertise in CAD design and rapid prototyping will directly impact the development of safe, effective, and elegant medical solutions.

Please note that to be considered for this role you must have the right to work in this location.

Responsibilities:

  • Design mechanical components and assemblies for robotic surgical systems using CAD tools (e.g., SolidWorks, Creo)
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (electrical, software, clinical) to integrate mechanical designs into complete systems
  • Develop prototypes using rapid fabrication techniques (3D printing, CNC machining, etc.)
  • Conduct tolerance analysis, FEA, and design for manufacturability (DFM) to ensure robustness and scalability
  • Support verification and validation testing, including bench testing and simulated surgical environments
  • Document design iterations, risk assessments, and compliance with medical device standards (ISO 13485, FDA regulations)
  • Contribute to brainstorming sessions, design reviews, and continuous improvement initiatives

Key Skills and Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field
  • Previous working experience in Mechanical Engineering, preferably in medical devices or robotics
  • Proficiency in CAD software (SolidWorks, Creo, or equivalent)
  • Hands-on experience with rapid prototyping tools and techniques
  • Strong understanding of materials, tolerances, and mechanical systems
  • Familiarity with regulatory requirements for medical devices (ISO, FDA)
  • Excellent problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills
