Senior Project Manager

R&D Partners is seeking a Senior Project Manager to join a leading organization in the pharmaceutical and medical technology industry. This role focuses on driving robust project governance and ensuring the successful execution of a product development roadmap. The position offers an exciting opportunity to work cross-functionally with teams across Product Management, R&D, Regulatory Affairs, Marketing, Operations, and Quality to bring innovative products to market efficiently and effectively.

Responsibilities:

• Lead and develop the Project Management Office (PMO), ensuring it is structured, skilled, and empowered to support project delivery across all product portfolios.
• Own and maintain the Design Control procedure, embedding best practices and compliance with internal and external requirements.
• Drive governance for all product development projects, ensuring consistency in planning, documentation, reporting, and risk management.
• Coordinate cross-functional project teams, fostering collaboration and early identification of dependencies, risks, and resource needs.
• Ensure projects are delivered on time, within scope, and aligned with market needs and corporate objectives.
• Provide clear communication to senior leadership on project status, risks, and mitigation plans.
• Lead continuous improvement initiatives across the PMO, strengthening processes, tools, and delivery discipline.
• Establish and maintain high-quality project documentation, ensuring traceability and compliance throughout the development lifecycle.
• Support strategic planning by contributing insights on resource needs, portfolio risk, and delivery capacity.

Key Skills and Requirements:

• Proven experience managing complex product development projects within regulated industries.
• Strong ability to structure, prioritize, and manage multiple workstreams simultaneously.
• Confident communicator capable of translating complex project information for stakeholders at all levels.
• Demonstrated leadership capability with experience building and developing high-performing teams.

Qualifications:

• Degree-level education preferred; equivalent experience considered.
• Project management experience with demonstrated success delivering complex projects.
• Professional certifications such as PMP, PRINCE2, or Agile are desirable.
• Experience managing teams is a plus.

A Day in the Life:

No two days in this role are the same. You may start your day reviewing project dashboards, analyzing risks, and preparing updates for leadership meetings. Later, you might lead a cross-functional workshop to resolve design challenges or align on key milestones. Afternoons could involve refining resource plans with Product Management and R&D, coaching team members, or improving PMO processes to enhance delivery discipline across the business.
