R&D Partners is seeking a Senior Scientist (PAT) to join the Product and Process Control group in Sweden. This role focuses on developing and implementing enhanced control strategies using cutting-edge technologies for late-phase portfolios. If you have a strong scientific foundation in Process Analytical Technology (PAT) and aspire to grow into an expert, this opportunity is an excellent fit.

Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, and deliver high-quality enhanced control methods using expertise in PAT, chemometrics, and advanced process monitoring and control.
  • Perform hands-on laboratory work as a core part of the role.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional project teams and contribute to regulatory documentation.
  • Support digital initiatives to implement innovative monitoring and control tools across continuous manufacturing platforms.
  • Develop, validate, and transfer methods and PAT tools to enable robust product control strategies across Operations.
  • Champion innovative approaches, including data science, predictive modeling, simulation, and artificial intelligence, to drive digitally oriented solutions.

Key Skills and Requirements:

  • BSc/MSc or equivalent in a relevant discipline (e.g., chemistry, pharmacy, engineering) with experience in PAT within the pharmaceutical or chemical industries, or postgraduate academic experience with an industrial PAT focus.
  • Strong understanding of key PAT techniques (e.g., NIR, Raman, microwave spectroscopy).
  • Experience in PAT method development, implementation, and use of multivariate data analysis (MVDA) tools such as SIMCA, Python, MATLAB, or PLS Toolbox.
  • Ability to document and present work concisely and comprehensibly.
  • Strong collaboration, communication, and leadership skills.
  • Understanding of Safety, Health, and Environment (SHE) principles and management.

Desirable:

  • Experience ensuring compliance with operational requirements (e.g., GMP, GAMP, Process Safety, Data Integrity, Change Control).
  • Development of control strategies for pharmaceutical commercial manufacturing processes.
  • Basic scripting skills (e.g., Python, MATLAB, R).
  • Familiarity with digital tools supporting enhanced control strategies (e.g., DCS, PAT management systems, APC, multivariate monitoring platforms).
  • Knowledge of pharmaceutical process equipment/technology for continuous processes.
